Health and Safety Manager

Our vision of delivering a mall which is incident and injury free means this role is a key one. The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for the delivery of this goal and as such will need to advise the management of the Mall of Qatar on any measures to assist them in delivering a mall which is free from risk, as far is reasonably practicable, legally compliant with Health and Safety legislation and thus protecting the mall and its owners from operational, reputational and commercial risk. The job holder will assist the management of the Mall of Qatar in creating a strategic approach to its management or risk in terms of the legislature framework. They are responsible for ensuring that tenants and workers comply with safety legislation and that safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered to. They provide specialist advice and expertise in terms of safe systems of work, risk assessment, safety training needs, accident prevention and safety audits. The job holder will be the central point of contact for enforcing authorities and regulatory bodies, ensuring excellent working relationships are maintained at all times. To work in partnership with retailers, employees, directors and contractors to minimize:
  • operational losses
  • occupational health problems
  • accidents
  • injuries

A formal qualification is essential for this role, gained from a reputable Health and Safety organization, such as NEEBOSH. Desirable experience of managing safety in a dynamic public environment would also be advantageous.

Soft Services Manager

This role manages the service delivery of all cleaning, food court, waste management and housekeeping services across the mall.
With over 400 units, a food court with over 1,000 seats and very large public spaces, this role will be critical in ensuring the customer experience exceeds expectations through the delivery of world leading standard. This role will lead our soft facility management services through the development of a delivery strategy, identification and selection of potential third part suppliers and the creation of a demanding cleaning and housekeeping specification. The establishment of delivery standards, KPI’s and a stringent audit schedule will ensure services are delivered by our supplier partners and that the customer experience is world class. The development of delivery methods will be a key part of this role, helping to develop working patterns to match the needs of the mall, regular and periodic cleaning schedules, the use of the latest cleaning innovations and mechanization and the development of staff deployment programmes, consumable usage programmes and ultimately, annual operating budgets. Knowledge or experience of waste management is key too, with significant waste being generated our ability to minimize waste to landfill and develop a recycling programme aligns with our own sustainability goals and those of the 2030 National Vision. Essential experience includes:
  • · Management of cleaning and housekeeping operations in large scale spaces
  • · Experience of direct service delivery and management of third party delivery service partners
  • · The creation of records, returns and financial budgets
  • · Service level agreement creation, KPI measurement and reviews and performance monitoring within a soft FM environment

Qualifications in cleaning or soft services are desirable, such as BICS, BIFM or other internationally recognized skill based qualifications. Ideally, educated to degree standard, the ability to manage and control very large workforces in a diverse and demanding public space mean that a passion for quality and continual improvement as well as being able to operate both strategically and at a tactical level are key skills.

Chief Engineer

As Chief Engineer you will deliver the overall management strategy and delivery of all engineering related matters such as but not limited to; MEP, HVAC, IT, Elevators, Life Safety Systems, Emergency equipment, and in general, the entire Mall of Qatar engineering. Through a team of service partners and maintenance contractors, a mixture of on-site of draw down resources will ensure full operational capacity of all services all of the time through the use of a schedule of PPM’s and reactive maintenance. To prolong the lifecycle of plant, machinery and assets experience of condition based maintenance is desirable to ensure we allocate resources correctly. This role will be key in establishing the asset details for aspects of the mall, developing planned maintenance schedules in line with global and regional best practise as well as developing a response process for reactive works. Experience of managing large scale MEP operations, either through directly employed or third party staff teams is essential. The maintenance of fabric, materials and finishes is a critical part of this role as the Mall of Qatar delivers world class retailers, services and a retail environment and your ability to ensure MEP services deliver a consistently excellent customer experience will be key. The following experiences and skills are essential:
  • · Using an IT based CAFM system to manage assets, tasks and materials
  • · Experience of electrical and mechanical engineering services
  • · Management of a comprehensive PPM schedule with numerous assets across a large environment
  • · Delivery experience through self-delivered or third party staff teams
  • · Experience of industry best practise for maintenance standards, such as SFG20
  • · Capability to manage a large asset list and ensure warranties are maintained

A flexible and dynamic person is required but they must also have formal qualifications in any engineering discipline, be that electrical or mechanical and be able to demonstrate their continuing professional development through professional occupational qualifications as this is a role which is focused on delivery and creation of a multi skilled work force.

Tenant Coordinator

As the Mall of Qatar retail tenants start to occupy their retail units we have a demand for professionals who have a wide range of experiences which will support this.  You will participate in the tenant delivery process and strategy, which will provide the effective delivery of all matters relating to tenant coordination, retail design and delivery, tenant improvement services and shop fitting. You will ensure that the retail delivery standards are maintained and advanced, as market leaders, with an emphasis on producing consistently high standards of design and fit-out installations coupled with timely delivery and optimized costing, through an internal resource and external specialist. Ensuring a safe, secure and enjoyable experience for all is delivered is a significant part of the role and by controlling the operational budget and managing contracts to world-class standards, you will ensure that the customer experience maintains its leading competitive edge. Your ability to plan and project manage works will ensure that works are conducted safely, efficiently and to specification/ time and are also enhanced by your ability to manage all operational issues. You will act as the point of contact between our outsourced tenant coordination consultants, ensuring resources, reports and outputs are managed and delivered according to the predetermined opening schedule and their contractual obligations. You will work with the Tenant Delivery Manager to produce a suite of reports, ensuring progress is document and fed upwards during the TC process and also maintain relationships both internally and externally with stakeholders. With numerous roles within our tenant coordination team we are seeking a range of skills and qualifications. As such, your background may be in:
  • · Project management
  • · Construction management
  • · Shop fit services
  • · Engineering services
  • · Architecture and design

Above all, you need to be an excellent communicator, working at many levels with numerous tenants at the same time. Arabic language skills may be advantageous but not essential.
