Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the selection and engagement to the posts of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) for filling up 467 Vacancies in the Assam Postal Circle. Eligible Interested Candidates are required to apply online on or before 6th May 2017.

Age Limit: 18 to 40 Years as on 6th May 2017. The maximum age shall be relaxable by 03 years for OBC categories and 05 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST. [10 years for PH above the respective category].
Educational Qualification: The candidate should pass 10th standard / Matriculation from approved state boards by the respective State Govt. / Central Govt. The state wise list of approved boards listed in the official notification. No weightage will be given for possessing any qualification(s) higher than the mandatory educational qualification. The Candidate passed Xth class examination in first attempt will be treated as meritorious against those passed compartmentally.
Computer Knowledge: The candidate should have computer knowledge and will be required to furnish basic computer training certificate for at least 60 days from a recognized Computer Training Institute. Certificates from Central Government/ State Government/ University/ Boards etc., will also be acceptable for this purpose. This requirement of basic computer knowledge certificate shall be relaxable in cases where a candidate has studied computer as a subject in Class X or Class XII or higher educational qualification provided the candidate submits a certificate of Class X or Class XII or higher educational qualification in which he/she has studied computer as a subject.
Residence: The candidate selected for the post of GDS BPM must mandatorily take up his/her residence in the Branch Post Office village within one month after selection but before engagement as Gramin Dak Sevak Branch Postmaster. The candidate shall submit a declaration to this effect in the application. The candidate selected for the post of other than GDS BPM should reside in post village/delivery jurisdiction.
Selection Process: The selection made through Automatic Generated merit List as per India Post Rules based on the applicants. No Weightage will be given for Higher Education Qualification. The Merti list based only on 10tth Standard Marks. In case candidates get the same marks, the merit order would be taken as DOB(higher age as merit), ST female, SC female, OBC female, UR female, ST Male, SC Male, OBC male, UR male.
Application Fee: For General (OC) / OBC Male Candidates are required to pay a fee of ₹ 100/- through any Head Post Office. The Candidate who requires to make the payment has to visit any Head Post Office to make the payment. For making the payment candidate should inform
Registration Number at the PO Counter. There is no fee for SC / ST and All Female Candidates.

Age Limit: 18 to 25 years as on 01 April 2016. Maximum age limit may be relaxed by 5 years (10 years for SC/ST and 08 years for OBC).
Educational Qualifications:
(1) For Postal/ Sorting Assistant -> 10+2 standard or 12th class pass from a recognized University or Board of School Education or Board of Secondary Education (excluding vocasional stream).
(2) For Postman / Mail Guard -> Matriculation or equivalent.
(3) For MTS -> Matriculation or ITI from recognsed Board.
Eligibility:
(1) Persons who have represented a State or the Country in the National or International competition in any of required Games/Sports.
(2) Persons who have represented their Universities in the Inter University Tournaments conducted by the Inter University Sports Board in any of the required Games/Sports.
(3) Persons who have represented their State School's Team in the National Sports/Games conducted by all India School Games Federation in any of the required Games/Sports.
How to Apply: Application accompanied by all the documents and certificates (not in original) should be sent to the office of the Chief Postmaster General (Staff Section), Assam Circle, 4th Floor, Meqhdoot Bhawan, Guwahati-781001 on or before 20/11/2016 up to 23:59 Hours. The cover should be superscribed in BLOCK LETTERS as "APPLICATION FOR MERITORIOUS SPORTS PERSONS RECRUITMENT FOR THE POST OF ____".
